Packing for Provence
Late September is one of the most beautiful times to visit Provence. Expect warm afternoons (typically in the low 70s°F / low 20s°C) and cool mornings and evenings (often in the low 50s°F / low teens°C).
Good news: Laundry service will be available throughout the week for a small fee (€5–10 per load), so there's no need to overpack.
Clothing
Layering is key. Temperatures can change throughout the day, so choose breathable fabrics such as cotton, linen blends, lightweight wool, or silk, and bring pieces that can easily be mixed and matched.
Tops
3–4 lightweight T-shirts or polos
2 casual button-down shirts or blouses
1 lightweight long-sleeve shirt
Bottoms
2 pairs of lightweight trousers or chinos
1 pair of comfortable jeans
Optional Dressier Outfit
Bring one or two outfits that you enjoy wearing for dinners or evenings at the Domaine. This might include:
A casual dress, or skirt
A collared shirt with chinos or dress trousers
A lightweight sport coat or blazer (optional)
Our dinners are relaxed but special, and many guests enjoy dressing up just a little.
Outer Layers
Bring two light layers to stay comfortable throughout the day:
A lightweight jacket, cardigan, blazer, or denim jacket
A light trench coat or packable rain jacket in case of wind or showers
Shoes
You'll easily walk several miles each day. Provence's charming hilltop villages feature uneven cobblestone streets, stairs, and hilly terrain.
We recommend bringing two pairs of comfortable shoes:
Comfortable sneakers or walking shoes for daily excursions
A second pair, such as supportive sandals, loafers, flats, or casual shoes for dinners and lighter walking
Accessories
1–2 lightweight scarves or wraps (optional) for warmth on cooler evenings
A secure, zippered crossbody bag, small shoulder bag, or belt bag to keep your phone, wallet, and personal items close while exploring
A swimming suit
Travel Essentials
Power Plug Adapter
France uses Type E electrical outlets. Bring a travel adapter with multiple USB ports so you can charge several devices at once.
Voltage
Most modern electronics—including phones, tablets, laptops, cameras, and Kindle devices—are dual voltage and only require a plug adapter. If you plan to bring a high-powered styling tool, check that it is dual voltage or bring an appropriate converter. Hair dryers are provided in every room at the Domaine.
Credit Cards
Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted throughout France. Contactless payment is common, and having a Chip & PIN card can still be helpful for unattended train ticket machines or gas stations.
Sun Protection
Even in late September, the Mediterranean sun can be surprisingly strong. Be sure to pack:
Sunglasses
A hat
Your favorite sunscreen
Don't Forget
Portable phone charger
Prescription medications (in their original containers)
Pack light, dress comfortably, and leave a little extra room in your suitcase—you'll almost certainly want to bring home a few delicious souvenirs from Provence!
